Egyptian Highlights — Overview & FAQ

Egypt in 8 Days: the Pyramids, a Nile Cruise & the Land of the Pharaohs

Egypt is the journey almost everyone means to take one day — and our escorted 8-day Egyptian Highlights tour is the easiest way to finally take it. In a single unforgettable week you’ll stand before the Great Pyramids of Giza, sail the Nile past temples that have watched the river flow for three thousand years, and walk into the tombs of the Valley of the Kings. Every detail is handled by Savitar Tours, so all you do is arrive.

From the Pyramids of Giza to the temples of the Nile

Your journey begins in Cairo, where you’ll enter the Great Pyramid and meet the Sphinx face to face, then fly south to the towering rock temples of Abu Simbel. From Aswan you’ll board the MS Concerto Plus for a three-night Nile cruise, gliding between the riverside temples of Kom Ombo and Edfu on the way to Luxor. There you’ll explore the Valley of the Kings — including the tomb of Tutankhamun — the vast columns of Karnak, and the sunlit courts of Luxor Temple, before returning to Cairo for the treasures of the Grand Egyptian Museum.

Escorted, handled, and built for first-timers

Egypt rewards travelers who see it with expert guidance, and this is an escorted small-group tour from start to finish. Hotels and the Nile cruise are hand-selected, domestic flights and transfers are included, and a local team looks after the logistics — so a destination that can feel daunting on your own becomes simple and reassuring. It’s an ideal first trip to Egypt, and a richer one for returning travelers who want it done well. Behind it all is Savitar Tours and 30 years of crafting journeys like this one.

Egypt Tour: Frequently Asked Questions

Is Egypt safe for travelers on this tour?
Egypt is one of the world’s most visited destinations, and its major sites are well-established and well-managed for tourism. On this escorted tour you’re accompanied throughout, with private transfers, hand-selected hotels and cruise, and a local team handling the details — the reassurance of a guided group backed by 30 years of Savitar Tours experience.
When is the best time to visit Egypt?
October through April brings the most comfortable temperatures for sightseeing. Summer is hotter but quieter, and the sites and Nile cruise operate year-round. Our departures run monthly from October 2026 through September 2027 (with no departure in August 2027), so you can pick the season that suits you.
What is included in the tour price?
Your price includes accommodation in Cairo and Abu Simbel plus the 3-night Nile cruise on the meal basis shown, all transfers in Cairo, Aswan and Luxor, the domestic flights Cairo–Aswan and Luxor–Cairo, and all sightseeing and entrance visits listed in the itinerary. Meals total seven breakfasts, eight lunches and seven dinners.
What is not included?
International airfare, the Egypt entry visa (currently about $25), tips, beverages during meals on the Nile cruise, optional excursions, and travel insurance are not included. We’re happy to help you arrange flights and insurance separately.
Do I need a visa for Egypt?
Most travelers need an entry visa, currently around $25, available as an e-visa or on arrival. It isn’t included in the tour price, and we’ll guide you on the current process before you travel.
How much walking is involved — is this tour right for me?
The tour involves regular walking on uneven ground at temples and tombs, with some steps, but it’s paced for a general-interest group and is comfortable for active travelers of any age. If you have any mobility needs, let us know and we’ll advise on the best departure and any adjustments.
What is the Nile cruise like?
You’ll sail three nights aboard the MS Concerto Plus (or similar) on a full-board basis, from Aswan through Kom Ombo and Edfu to Luxor. Days combine relaxed sailing with guided temple visits, and evenings feature onboard dining and cultural shows.
I’m travelling solo — can I join, and what’s the single supplement?
Solo travelers are very welcome. Single occupancy is $3,959 per person — a modest supplement of $820 over the shared-room rate — giving you a private room throughout the tour and cruise.
How do I book, and what deposit is required?
Choose your departure date and reserve online using the Book Now button, or contact our team and we’ll walk you through it. A deposit secures your place, with the balance due before travel. Group sizes are limited, so the most popular months book early.
